Spirit Moto Corsa made a great start to the weekend at the Donington Park GP Circuit, with Mason Law fastest GP2 rider in both practice sessions and in the top three overall.
Jamie Perrin also showed encouraging front running pace in the dry second practice session, finishing third in class and fifth overall.
The morning practice session took place on a wet but drying circuit.
Mason started the session really strongly and was fastest overall after ten minutes. As expected, times tumbled significantly during the session, but Mason was able to keep on the pace throughout and ended the session third overall, fastest in GP2, with a 1m43.055s.
The wet conditions are not Jamie’s favourite, but he was able to complete a good number of laps in the session and was sixth in class at the chequered flag.
In the dry second practice, both riders were straight on the pace and running 1-2 in class at the halfway stage of the session.
Charlie Nesbitt momentarily went top of GP2, but Mason was then able to find half a second and move back to the top.
The weather is expected to take a serious turn for the worse on Saturday afternoon, so the day’s schedule has pre-emptively been brought forward.
Qualifying will take place from 09:58-10:20, while the 12-lap Sprint Race is now due to take place at 14:45.
