Jamie Perrin made his return to the podium on Saturday, as he picked up a much deserved third place finish after fighting through the field on the opening lap.
After a very disappointing qualifying for both riders due to changeable weather conditions, Mason and Jamie were tasked with moving as high up the field as possible in just twelve laps.
Jamie started the race from 20th overall and sixth in class but, in his usual style, made huge progress right from lights out and started lap two in eleventh overall and third in class.
He then spent the remainder of the race right behind Dan Jones (on the iForce Lloyd & Jones PR Racing Spirit bike) in the battle for second place in GP2. Despite really pressuring him towards the end, Jamie was unable to pass Jones and had to settle for third.
Mason set off from 17th on the grid, fifth in class, but he was unable to make any forward progress on the opening lap.
However, he had very strong pace and was able to move through the field to finish ninth overall, directly behind Jamie.
This charge included four passes in the last four laps and he set the fastest GP2 lap of the race along the way. He will therefore start as top GP2 on the grid for today’s Feature Race in fifth place.
Warm Up gets underway at 12:34, before the race start at 15:25.
