Spirit Moto Corsa made a solid start to the third weekend of the British GP2 season at Brands Hatch, finishing second and third fastest on the opening day of practice.
Both riders made a good step forward in lap time in the afternoon, but are continuing to work hard to find further improvements in their quest to topple in-form Charlie Nesbitt from the top of the timing sheet.
It was Mason Law who finished the day ahead of teammate Jamie Perrin, as the pair to continue to offer healthy competition to one another.
Encouragingly, both riders finished in the top ten of the combined Supersport/GP2 classification in both sessions. This hopefully means that they will be fighting high up in the overall pecking order in the races.
Free Practice One
Mason set the early pace in first practice and was fastest in class after his opening run of the session.
Jamie slotted in just behind him at this early stage, but his session was adversely affected by losing his windscreen. This kept him in the pits longer than he would have hoped and reduced his running slightly.
Mason was unable to improve on his lap until his last attempt, where he knocked off nearly four tenths to set a 1m30.313s. This put him second in class at the end of the session and seventh overall.
Jamie was also able improve on his lap from the first run by three tenths, with a 1:30.831 making him fourth fastest in GP2 and tenth overall.
Free Practice Two
It was Jamie who made a fast start to second practice, setting a 1m30.164s just seven minutes into the session.
That put him fastest at that point, although he was unable to improve on his time for the remainder of the session and would eventually end up third quickest in class and eighth overall.
Mason, on the other hand, put in his fastest times towards the end of the session. He set his best lap of the day, a 1m29.807s, which again put him second place in GP2 and seventh overall.
Saturday sees Qualifying take place at 12:25 before the Sprint Race at 17:00. The race will once again be broadcasted live on Quest (available on both TV and online via Discovery+).
