Spirit Moto Corsa have successfully completed the first day of track action at Oulton Park, Round 4 of the 2020 British GP2 Cup.
In both practice sessions Mason Law was at the sharp end of the GP2 timesheets, while Joey Thompson made positive steps forward throughout the day.
Mason ended the first practice session in second place in the GP2 class (eighth overall) with a fastest time of a 1:40.519. A solid start to the weekend, but there was a bit of time to find on fastest man Alastair Seeley in the afternoon.
Joey was seventh fastest in class and 21st overall with a 1:42.132.
Both riders made a good step forward in FP2. Mason was second fastest again but with a reduced gap to first place (this time Tom Oliver). His lap time of 1:39.898 put him ninth overall at the chequered flag.
Joey, meanwhile, improved on his FP1 lap by almost 1.3 seconds to set a 1:40.875. This time was achieved on his final lap of the session and took a big chunk out of his previous personal best. He finished sixth in class (18th overall) and will be aiming to continue his forward momentum tomorrow.
Saturday’s timetable sees Qualifying take place at 11:20am and the Sprint Race at 5:00pm. The 12 lap race will be available to watch live on Quest.
Mason will be looking to regain top spot in the standings (he currently sits two points behind Jack Scott), while Joey has the opportunity to elevate himself numerous places in the tightly contested championship.
